Senator Feyen On State Budget

State Senator Dan Feyen says two of the biggest elements in the state budget are education and transportation. He says the Governor has proposed a large increase in funding for public schools in the budget. He says the $649 million increase is one of the largest increases ever for the state’s education budget. He says an audit of the Department of Transportation showed inflation factors weren’t figured into large road projects. Feyen says that should have been a given. He says the average citizen knows how to factor in inflation for a project. He says legislators have to take a real deep dive into the agency to make sure it is running right before putting together their budget. He says a solvency report for the State Transportation Fund wasn’t too encouraging either.
