Senator Gudex On Proposed State Budget

State Senator Rick Gudex says he’s pleased with the priorities the governor set in his state budget address this week. That includes reducing property taxes by the end of 2016 to a level lower than they were last year. Gudex says he’s all for reducing the burden on the working-class citizen. The state lawmaker from Fond du Lac says borrowing over $1.5 billion mostly for transportation-related funding is a double-edged sword. He says the state will be borrowing about half of what it did in the last budget, but they still need to find a permanent solution for funding transportation. Gudex also likes removing the cap for the school voucher program. He says it gives a lot more parents the opportunity to explore different options when it comes to their child’s education. He says they will have to take a look at funding based on how many people apply.
