Sentor Gudex Pleased To See Lifting Of Moratorium On Historic Preservation Tax Credit

State Senator Rick Gudex of Fond du Lac is glad to see the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation lift its moratorium on the receipt of applications for the Historic Preservation Tax Credit. The original impact on the state budget was estimated at $4 million, but applications during the first six months amounted to about $35 million in tax credits. Gudex who authored the tax credit says he’s not surprised at the programs success. He says the program has leveraged over $180 million in economic growth in the state and put a lot of people to work on jobs they might not otherwise have. Gudex says the legislation was good for both historic preservation and job creation efforts.
