Sheboygan County Reports 1st Death from COVID-19, Patients Linked to Nursing Home

Sheboygan County has recorded its first death related to
COVID-19, and health officials say the person has been linked to an outbreak in
a Sheboygan nursing home.

According to a news release, the Sheboygan County Health
Department was informed Tuesday that an employee and a resident of the Sunny
Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center both tested positive for the Coronavirus.
On Wednesday, health officials learned two additional residents tested positive
for the disease – with one of the two having died. The other people who have
tested positive for COVID-19 have been placed into isolation and are being
closely monitored.

The health department is doing follow up work to find out
who has had contact with these positive cases. The release says the nursing
home has “implemented processes to limit exposure to the virus” and “continues
to do all that they can to ensure the safety of residents and staff.
