Slowing Down Scam Calls

There’s no sure way to stop a scammer from calling you, but an administrator with the state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has some tips for slowing them down. Frank Frassetto says first you should be careful about limiting the information you share about yourself when you are making a purchase in a store or online. He says if you need to agree to something when you are purchasing online scroll through the terms of agreement until you come to the part about information sharing. He says if you can uncheck that part of it take advantage of it. If you get a robocall where they tell you to press a certain number to unsubscribe he says it is better to just hang up. He says your phone service provider may have call blocking options you can inquire about. He says it is also a good idea to sign up for the Do Not Call Registry and there are also phone apps available for call blocking like Nomorobo.com
