Small Explosion At Cookie Plant In Ripon

Two people were injured during a small explosion at Signature Wafer Company in Ripon Monday afternoon. It happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. at the company’s facility at 850 Stanton Street. A fire began after the explosion in a compactor. The fire was contained in that area, but there was heavy smoke. Ripon Area Fire District Chief Tim Saul says about 20 employees were evacuated from the plant. Firefighters then tackled the fire. The two employees that were injured were taken to Ripon Medical Center where they were treated for minor injuries and released. Fire departments from Fond du Lac, Brandon, Markesan and Rosendale provided mutual aid.
