Sock Drive A Success

Socks, socks, socks! Almost 450 pair of socks were collected Tuesday, Juy 25 as fans armed with socks filled the stands at Herr-Baker Field to watch the Dock Spiders take on the Madison Mallards.  “It’s like Christmas,” Salvation Army Social Service Director Ron Jacobson (pictured left) said with a smile, as fans tossed their socks into The Salvation Army Big Red Kettle.   “Banjo” 107.1 The Bulls mascot (center) and Steph Z., 107.1 The Bulls morning show host (right) joined with members of The Salvation Army advisory board  in the “Christmas in July” promotion that collected socks for The Salvation Army to distribute in time for back to school.  The Dock Spiders offered The Salvation Army and their guests special ticket rates to celebrate the service the organization provides at Christmas and all year.  The Dock Spiders offered fans a discount at the team store for every sock or monetary donation and Judy Albrandt won Brewer tickets from a donor drawing 107.1 The Bull added.  “We appreciate the tremendous response from our collection partners and the community,” Jacobson finishes.   “Christmas isn’t a season, Its an attitude of compassion and giving.  This community lives Christmas all year and that makes all the difference to those who need our help because ‘need’ has no season.” Contact The Salvation Army at 920/923-8220.
