Special Committee On Transportation Proposed

State Senate Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling says the Governor and state legislative leaders should consider a proposal for a special committee on transportation. She and Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca proposed as much to the Governor and Republican leaders in the Senate and Assembly. She says a long term funding plan for transportation is something the state needs. She says she was disappointed that two years ago they couldn’t come to terms on a long term funding plan in a bipartisan measure. She says the special committee would be bipartisan in makeup. She says there would be four Senators and four State Representatives on the committee with equal representation from the parties. She says a long term plan would be hammered out as a future roadmap for funding transportation needs in the state. She says many other states in the upper Midwest have been able to find a long term funding plan.
