Special Meeting Will Address Proposed Change To Housing Discrimination Ordinance

The Fond du Lac City Council will hold a special meeting next Monday night at 6 p.m. to vote on amending the City’s housing discrimination ordinance. At the end of the last night’s meeting City Council President Sam Meyer read a prepared statement saying they will give the public opportunity to comment on adding, as a protected class “gender identity and expression” to the housing discrimination ordinance. In his statement Meyer says the majority consensus of the city council feels there needs to be closure for the benefit of the community. He says public response to the issue also indicated that the Council should move forward now instead of waiting until a time to be determined in the future.
