Special Screening Of The Film Screenagers At The Waupun Public Library

The Parents in Action group at Central Wisconsin Christian School in Waupun is inviting the community to a screening of the film “Screenagers” at the Waupun Public Library on April 3rd.  Group President Katie DeMaa says the one hour film is about the growing amount of time kids spend on smart phones and other digital platforms.  DeMaa tells us the filmmaker is also a physician who made the film after talking to other parents about the unexplored problem. DeMaa says, “It is screen time. So it is our phones, it is social media, it’s gaming, online homework, the list goes on and on.” DeMaa was surprised when she found out how much time children spend on screens a day. She says, “It is kind of eye-opening I guess when I look at the facts of how much our kids are on screen. I know it said kids on average are on your screen 6.5 hours a day.” DeMaa says it’s not to late to talk to kids about spending less time on screen and more time doing other things and that is the message of the film. The film will be show at 6:30 that evening. It is a free event.
