Splash And Dash A Success

A picture perfect day, great volunteers and a big crowd equaled success for the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Fond du Lac County’s first annual 5K Big Splash & Dash.

Held on Saturday, September 12 as part of Fondue Fest, the Big Splash & Dash kicked off and ended at Veterans Park in downtown Fond du Lac.

“We had so much fun at our first ever BIG Splash & Dash 5K!” said Andrea Kindschuh Enrollment Specialist for BBBS and committee chair for this event.  “We’ve done a 5K in the past, but decided to switch it up this year with a new theme, new logo and new course.  We had over 210 racers for the event.  That’s a 67% increase in numbers from last year.  A HUGE success!”

“All funds raised during this event goes right back into our program,” said Tammy Young, Executive Director for BBBS.  “BBBS is the only one-to-one mentoring program of its kind serving all of Fond du Lac County and the northern portion of Dodge County.  New for the race this year, we had our Bigs and Littles on hand to help ‘splash’ runners and walkers with water balloons.   Every walker, runner, volunteer and sponsor helped make a BIG difference to both the children in our program and the 50 kids on the waiting list” (down from 72 last October), said Young.
