Spring Cleaning Advised For Paper And Electronic Documents

An official with the state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says if your spring cleaning involves getting rid of old documents make sure you are thorough. Frank Frassetto says you should leave nothing to chance when it comes to documents with personal information on it. He says if they are paper documents it would be best to shred them. He recommends if you are getting rid of an old computer to take the hard drive to an expert and have them destroy it. He says there is software on the market that can pull information off a hard drive even if you have wiped it clean. Frassetto says even if the information is encrypted there are people and programs that can hack that information.
