Spring Election is Under a Month Away

The countdown to the spring election continues – as voters will be heading to the polls in less than a month on Tuesday, April 2nd. Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says there are a lot of important races for people to pay attention to in April. “A lot of people say ‘I only vote presidential or those national elections’, well, coming up here in April, these are the people that actually set your local taxes,” Freiberg said. “All of the town folks are up for re-election, we have some village races going on, the Fond du Lac City Council, school boards, and of course our state justice of Supreme Court will be a statewide election.” Freiberg also mentions area school referendums for the Fond du Lac and Oakfield School Districts as items people will see on their ballot, depending on where they live.

As always, the polls open at 7 am and close at 8 pm on April 2nd, but if you can’t make it to the polls on election day, in-person absentee voting is available, or you can have your absentee ballot mailed to you. Freiberg says to check with your Municipal Clerk for more information about absentee voting. “They all have different times on when they offer in-person absentee voting, but you can have that ballot mailed to your home. Get in touch with your Municipal Clerk and get that request to them, and as soon as that ballot is in their hands, they will have it mailed out to you,” Freiberg said. Voters are reminded to bring a valid photo ID with them to the polls as well. For more information about the spring election and to see what’s on your ballot, go to the MyVote Website.
