State Confirms Hospitalizations in Older Adults Linked to Vaping

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services now says it has
confirmed cases of lung disease in older people known to vape or use
e-cigarettes. DHS officials continues to investigate several cases of
hospitalizations in teenagers and young adults that had been linked to vaping,
but now say adults have been hospitalized with the same issues. Symptoms
include shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain cough and weight loss – and
some of the patients need assistance to breathe. Health officials say that
while some patients have improved over time with treatment, its still unclear if
there will be any long term health effects. There are a total of 12 confirmed
cases of lung disease linked to vaping, with13 cases under investigation.
Counties with confirmed cases include Dodge, Door, Kenosha, Racine, Walworth,
Waukesha and Winnebago. The state is working with the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention and working with other states.
