State Senate Candidate Was Focus Of Legislation

State Senate candidate Mark Harris says an effort by legislative Republicans to knock him out of the race for the 18th State Senate seat proved ineffective. A bill passed into law prohibits a county executive from holding a seat in the state legislature at the same time. Harris says that bill was aimed at him, but he is willing to give up his job as Winnebago County Executive if he is elected to the Senate. He says there are a couple reasons he chose to run for state office. He says state legislators are under investing in the future of Wisconsin, highway and bridges, K-12 schools, and universities. He says there is also a fairness issue with a handful of people who have gotten enormous tax breaks. Harris faces fellow Democrat John Lemberger in the August 9th primary.
