State Senators Voice Concerns Over Kimberly-Clark Incentives
Another Republican state senator is voicing concern over a
$100 million tax incentive package for Kimberly-Clark Corporation. During
Wednesday’s public hearing on the topic, Senator Luther Olsen said he is not
convinced it’s the right thing to do.
The Assembly passed the bill in February,
but it has stalled in the Republican-controlled Senate due to a lack of votes.
Three other Republicans have publicly opposed the bill.
Olsen fired questions
at Kimberly-Clark vice president John Deitrich about why the company plans to
close the Fox Crossing plant in the first place, and why the tax breaks would
be enough to change its mind. Dietrich called the bill a “game changer” –
saying if it was passed, the Wisconsin plant would stay open and another
facility in
would close.
