Statewide Helpline Available for Those Struggling with Addiction

People struggling with an addiction to opioids or other
substances now have access to a statewide help line. The Wisconsin Addiction
Recovery Helpline is free, and works to connect people to local treatment and
counseling options. Dialing 211 will link people with the local help they
need, and will even take cost into account. In 2016, 827 people died from
prescription painkillers, heroin, and other opioids like Fentanyl. The 2017
numbers have yet to be released, but state health officials say it is a growing
problem.
