Stolen Veterans Grave Markers In Dodge County

Dodge County Sheriff’s officials are investigating the thefts of
veterans grave markers at two cemeteries. A total of 78 markers were taken from
the Oakwood Cemetery on Highway 33 in the Town of Beaver Dam and Stone Hill
Cemetery on County Highway E in the Town of Burnett. The markers had a total
value of about $3,750. Other markers may also have been taken. The markers not
the service of the deceased veterans and are placed near the headstone. They are
made of brass, cut also cast iron or other valuable metals. They may be of value
to recycling centers or second hand stores. Local scrap yars and recycling
businesses have been contacted. Sheriff Pat Ninmann says investigators have
developed some persons of interest. Anyone with information about possible
suspects or the grave markers is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office and ask for
