Sturgeon Spawning Update

The annual lake sturgeon
spawning run began Monday on the Wolf
River
. DNR Sturgeon
Biologist Ryan Koenigs says the fish began spawning at the Sturgeon Trail in New London and at Bamboo
Bend in Shiocton. On Monday, Koenigs says that fisheries crews tagged 138 fish
at Bamboo Bend and 140 fish at the Sturgeon Trail location. If you’re
interested in watching the spawning run, Koenigs says that it appears the run
is going to go pretty fast on the Wolf, so he encourages those interested to
make it out to see the fish within the next couple of days. DNR fisheries crews
will again be tagging fish in New
London
and Shiocton today and at private locations in
the Leeman area.
