THELMA Windy Style Dinner Most Successful Ever

Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) announced the 17^th annual Windy Dinner THELMA Style held earlier this month was the organization’s most successful event.

The event included an incredible live auction provided by generous donors, and a donation of an $8,000 ring, designed by Ron Emanuel of The Goldsmith that was raffled for $50 per ticket. 

Mike and Rita Shannon received the 2017 James C. Hubbard Windy Award. The award is a replica of sculptor Andrew Redington’s Cornerstone Emergence, located in THELMA’S gardens on the corner of Marr and Sheboygan. Cornerstone Emergence was created in honor of Jim Hubbard’s commitment to THELMA, his community, and his passion for collaboration between people.

“We are overwhelmed with the support and generosity of our donors and members who attended the event,” said Jacqui Corsi, THELMA’s Interim Executive Director. “We had the opportunity to showcase all that we accomplished in the last year.”

Corsi provided two updates to the attendees. First, 11 Thursdays of Summer had a 51% increase in attendance compared to the previous year. And second, THELMA was able to give away the most scholarships ever because of the generosity of donors.

The scholarship initiative was once again surpassed at the event held earlier this month as THELMA is now able to provide 49 student memberships which opens the door to kids who wouldn’t otherwise have access to THELMA’s arts programming like Studio 51, Corsi said. In Studio 51, students get hands-on experience in a different art form every week.

Justin and Alexandra Smith, owners of C.D. Smith, and Grant and Katie Grinstead, of Vir-Clar Farms were event co-chairs and were intimately involved in the planning of the event including the Farm-to-Table theme of the evening.

“Our success was definitely tied to the strong commitment of our co-chairs,” Corsi said. “We couldn’t do this without their tireless dedication.”

THELMA is a member-based, privately-funded non-profit dedicated to creating experiences not readily available in the area. Intimate concerts in the Great Hall, street concerts with major performers, outstanding films, and art from world-renowned artists are available at THELMA.
