Three Charged For Animal Mistreatment

Prosecutors have charged three Fond du Lac residents for allegedly leaving a harness on a pit bull so long it became embedded in the dog. Thirty-two-year-old Amy Shaw and 51-year-old Daniel Eisenach are both charged with mistreatment of animals causing death, a felony charge. Thirty-year-old Amanda Muellenbach is charged with aiding a felon, which is also a felony. According to the criminal complaint a Fond du Lac woman bought the dog as a Christmas present. She noticed a gash on the dog that was infected. Muellenbach allegedly told the woman she and the two owners would pay the vet bills if police weren’t called.  The leash was supposedly kept on the pit bull so the defendants didn’t have to chase him in the backyard. A veterinarian told investigators the harness must have been placed on the dog while it was a puppy because it became imbedded as it grew.  All three defendants have preliminary hearings on March 24th.
