Three Hurt In Calumet County Crash

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash near Sherwood in Calumet County early Saturday afternoon. According to the State Patrol 82-year-old Gerald Polakowski of Appleton was heading south on State Park Road and stopped at a stop sign at Highway 10. He then pulled out from it and his car was struck on the passenger side by an eastbound SUV. He was flown to Theda Clark Regional Medical Center by a Theda Star helicopter. The 24-year-old Menasha woman driving the SUV, Amber Volper, and her passenger 23-year-old Ryan Kaun of Neenah both suffered non-life threatening injuries and were also taken to Theda Clark. Polakowski suffered life-threatening injuries. The accident was reported at 12:08 p.m.
