Tobacco Sales Compliance Check In FDL County Disappointing

The Tobacco Control Program Coordinator for the Fond du Lac
County Health Department says a recent tobacco sales compliance check with
local stores was a disappointment. Sandy Bernier says 6 out 16 stores they sent
underage students in to buy tobacco products on April 3rd were cited for
selling to someone under the age of 18. She says four of the clerks didn’t even
ask to see ID and two others didn’t read the ID correctly or sold tobacco
products for whatever reason. She says she has been doing her job for 18 years
and the last time they did a tobacco compliance check was the first time that
everyone was in compliance. She recommends if you sell tobacco you should go to
smokecheck.org to refresh yourself on the training.
