Training For Ebola

Fond du Lac Assistant Fire Chief Todd Janquart says it’s unlikely that Ebola will become a nationwide problem, but their firefighters and paramedics are receiving training for it. But he says they do need to prepare for any scenario. He says they’ve educated their personnel with the latest information on the virus and how people with it should be cared for. He says that includes information on the disease, how it’s transmitted, how to watch for signs and symptoms, and making sure their personnel are up-to-date on how to mitigate circumstances if it becomes a worst-case scenario. As for protective gear for handling someone suspected of having the virus, Janquart says they won’t have to make many changes given the equipment they have.
