Trains Collide In Slinger

Two people were hurt and more than 100 homes were evacuated in Slinger after two trains collided at a track crossing causing three engines and 10 railroad cars to derail Sunday night. The two trains were Canadian National and Wisconsin Southern Railroad trains. The two injured persons were train crew members and were taken to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The Slinger Middle School was being used as an evacuation center for those who had nowhere to go, but by early this morning everyone had found some place to stay for the night and the school was closed. About 5,000 gallons of diesel fuel spilled as a result of the collision. Six fire departments responded to the scene.
