Trial Will Stay Put In Washington County For Former Slinger HS Band Director

There will be no change of venue in the trial for a former Slinger High School band director accused of sexually assaulting a student in 2000. A Washington County judge Thursday denied David Hanke’s request to hold the trial outside of the county due to pre-trial publicity. The judge also denied a request from the district attorney’s office to increase Hanke’s bond, following his arrest for drunk driving in Fond du Lac County on December 31st. The Judge did, however, require that Hanke maintain absolute sobriety. Hanke’s trial is scheduled for the week of April 23rd. The 67-year-old Hanke now lives in Fond du Lac.
