Two Separate Fires Make For A Smoky Sunday Finish

The FDL County Sheriff’s Office finished up it’s Sunday on the scene of two separate fires in the area. The first call came in just before 3:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon, with Deputies arriving on scene at a residence on CTH Y in the Town of Byron. A caller reported that there was a detached garage on fire. The Brownsville Fire Department and Eden Fire Department responded to the scene. Once on the scene, Deputies found the homeowner extinguishing the fire to the detached garage utilizing a garden hose. Initial investigation shows that pile of burning brush had sent hot embers to the garage and ignited a fire. There were no injuries as a result of the fire, but there was minor damage to the garage.

A second call came just before 5:00 p.m., with Deputies arriving on the scene of an abandoned house on fire on Mill Pond Rd, located in the Town of Auburn. Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, an Officer from the Campbellsport Police Department and members of the Campbellsport Fire Department responded to the scene. Once on the scene, Deputies and Fire Personnel found a small tool shed on fire. Early indications are that a controlled burn was taking place near the shed, when embers from the fire were blown towards the shed, causing the fire to spread. No one was injured in the fire, which caused minor damage to the tool shed.
