UW Education Affordable

UW Colleges and Extension Chancellor Cathy Sandeen says a UW education is very much an affordable option for those seeking a higher education. She says the average student debt in Wisconsin is just under $30,000, but thanks to grants, scholarships and other financing it is much lower for a UW education. She says at the UW the average student debt load is $6,000 and only 36 percent of their students take on any debt at all. She says partnerships like they have with Fond du Lac County for the UW-Fond du Lac keeps costs down as well. She says the County provides the land and the buildings and they maintain and upkeep the buildings. She says the UW for its part provides the faculty and staff for the academic experience. Sandeen moderated a panel on Student Debt and College Affordability at the UW-Fond du Lac Thursday morning.
