UW System Aims for Pay Hike for Employees

The UW System is looking for a 3-percent pay hike for
employees in each of the next two fiscal years. System officials plan to make
the request when meeting with the regents on Thursday.

There are about 39,000
UW System employees across the state. Employees have seen no pay plan increase
in five of the past eight years, and increases averaged less than 1-percent
over the past decade.

UW System President Ray Cross says it’s important to
invest in faculty and staff – so the system doesn’t fall behind as labor
markets tighten.
