UWFDL to Host 50th Anniversary Open House Next Weekend

The UW-Fond du Lac campus is set to celebrate its fiftieth
anniversary next weekend. The school recently became a part of UW-Oshkosh, but
Campus Administrator Bethany Rusch says it’s not the first time in the last
half-century that the schools have been tightly connected.

Rusch explains that “we
opened our doors in 1968 in the fall semester with about 230 students. And in
what’s kind of a neat turn of events for us is that we’re part of UW-Oshkosh
now, and when we opened, we were a branch of Wisconsin
State College in Oshkosh. So we’ve come full circle in fifty
years, and we’re excited to be able to really honor our beginnings and our
future this year.”

Rusch asks that people RSVP online before the event – and adds that many individuals with ties to the university have already done so. She says “on our RSVP list so far, we have several former faculty and staff, some of our deans who are local are planning on attending as well as our former dean. So we’re excited about that. That’s who people want to come out and see, right? They want to go and connect with the professor that had a big impact on them.”

The open house is free, and the community is invited to attend. It will run from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, November 2nd.
