Van Hollen Not Seeking Reelection

Wisconsin's Attorney General has decided not to seek a third term in office. In a statement, Attorney General J-B Van Hollen says he is proud of his accomplishments while serving as the state's top law enforcement officer, but believes it's time to give Wisconsin voters new choices. Van Hollen was first elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2010. During that time, he eliminated a massive backlog in DNA testing at state crime labs, expanded efforts to fight internet crimes targeting children, and oversaw implementation of the state's concealed carry permit system. Van Hollen says he has put public safety first and hopes to focus on his remaining goals during what's left of his current term, without the distraction of a campaign.
