Vehicular Homicide Charge Brought Against Eden Teen

Vehicular homicide charges have been filed against a former Eden man who was allegedly high when he drove off Fond du Lac Avenue and East Pioneer Road near the South Hills Country Club in Fond du Lac last November and hit a tree. Bond was set at $10,000 cash for Gilberto Castaneda-Bobadilla when he appeared in Fond du Lac County Court Monday morning. Two then 17-year-old boys, Giovanni Clouse of the Dotyville area and Alex Schultz, were passengers in the back seat of his car during the accident. Clouse was killed and Schultz seriously injured. Clouse’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and neck. According to the criminal complaint a crash reconstruction done by the State Patrol determined the car was doing between 46 and 54 miles per hour in the 40 mile per hour zone and did not brake before hitting the tree. Vehicle data showed an impact speed of 62 miles per hour milliseconds before the driver’s airbag deployed. The three were returning from a concert in Madison early the morning of November 16th and had stopped for a bite to eat in Waupun. Castaneda-Bobadilla admitted to officers that he is a marijuana user and seller. A state crime lab test found the presence of marijuana in his blood. Charges include homicide by vehicle-use of controlled substance, use of a vehicle with controlled substance in blood-great bodily harm, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 24th.
