Veterans Resource Center

The Old St. Peter’s Church at 1st and Marr in Fond du Lac is now serving as a Veteran’s Resource Center. It has been since about May. Kim Galske is the Executive Director for Salute the Troops. She says they were about two years away from making it happen, but a generous company stepped forward and made it possible. Providing information on other non-profit agencies that offer services to veterans is part of what they do. Brochures from about 125 different agencies can be found in the center’s front entry way. They offer coffee and conversation and are slowly developing other resources for veterans at the center. The Sophia Foundation is instrumental in offering leadership training. Other services include resume building and sharpening interviewing skills. Two computers were recently donated that will allow veterans to do job searches. Other groups like the Marine Corps League are also using the center. Galske says Salute the Troops is simply an umbrella for the services being offered veterans at the center.
