Victim in Oshkosh Helicopter Crash Identified

A 27-year-old man from Platteville has been identified as
the person killed when a helicopter crashed into the Fox River in Oshkosh
Saturday. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office says Jonathan D. Bahr was the
only person in the helicopter when it crashed into a high tension power line
and then into the river around 12:30 Saturday afternoon. The crash severed the
power lines, which then fell into the river delaying rescue efforts for around
two hours. The Fox River was shut down to boat traffic for around nine hours to
allow for removal of the helicopter and repair of the damaged power lines. The sheriff’s
office says the investigation into the crash has been turned over to the Federal
Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
