Viewers Choice Winner Selected In THELMA Membership Exhibit

Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) announced that a painting by artist Amy Jarvis of Fond du Lac was selected Viewer’s Choice in the 2015 Membership Exhibition.

Jarvis describes the piece, Words Left Unsaid, “as a bit of a self-portrait,” and a departure from her usual illustrator- influences. Jarvis is also a yoga instructor. She said influences of yoga, religious art and a recent spiritual quest are found in the piece.

For the recognition, Jarvis took home a THELMA package including one year’s free membership and a Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership package including coupons from downtown businesses.

This is the second annual membership exhibition and each time, viewers may vote on their favorite piece each time they visit the exhibit. 128 votes were received this year. Artist Sandra Uecker received the honor in 2014.

The 2015 Membership Exhibition remains open through October 31. THELMA’s Contemporary Wing is free to the public, thanks to the generosity of Horicon Bank. Horicon Bank has a tradition steeped in art and shares the belief that art should be accessible to all.

The gallery is open from 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, from 11 am to 3 pm Saturdays and during events. Check THELMA’s website for any changes in the hours due to private events.

THELMA is located at 51 Sheboygan St., in the heart of Downtown Fond du Lac’s Arts and Entertainment District. Learn more about THELMA at thelmaarts.org, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
