Violent Sex Offender Asks For Discharge From State Supervision

The 62-year-old man convicted of sexual assaults in Washington County in 1990 has dropped his request for supervised release and is instead asking to be discharged from supervision by the state Department of Health Services. Terry Olson was determined to be sexually violent in 2002 and has been housed at the Sand Ridge Treatment Facility in Juneau County since then. Olson’s quest for placement in Washington County or a residence in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Eldorado both has been stymied. Fond du Lac County and the Township filed a lawsuit to prevent Olson from being placed there. If Olson’s request for discharge is granted his daily activities would not be reviewed by authorities, except for the typical supervision for anyone who is a registered sex offender. A conference call to schedule what comes next in the Washington County case has been set for next Thursday afternoon.
