VITA Program Provides Help Filling Out Income Tax Forms

Free assistance is available for help filing your out state and federal income tax forms. State Department of Revenue Secretary Rick Chandler says hundreds of tax assistance sites are located across the state. He says his department and other organizations operate about 200 sites around the state called Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or VITA sites. There are some eligibility requirements to get the assistance. He says the help is available to low income individuals, senior citizens, people with disabilities and people in the military. He says you can go to the DOR website or call 211 to get a list of the sites. He says most sites are open 1 or 2 days a week and it is a good service.
