Waldschmidt Replaces Schmitz As Assistant Jail Administrator

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Ryan Waldschmidt becomes the County’s Assistant Jail Administrator and Juvenile Superintendent starting today. Waldschmidt replaces Lieutenant Linda Schmitz who retired after 33 years with the Sheriff’s Department last Friday. Waldschmidt returns to the jail where he started after more recently working the night shift patrol. He says the jail is a big operation, which people don’t realize because it’s not as visible as the squads that are on patrol.

Chief Deputy Mark Strand says Waldschmidt will have more responsibility, but will do a good job.

Last Friday they had a jail population of 301 inmates and 10 juveniles. Waldschmidt says they have a great staff working at the jail that is always on the move.
