Washington County Traffic Fatality

Washington County Sheriff’s officials say a 50-year-old West Bend woman was killed and two people were injured Monday morning in a construction zone accident on Highway 33 in the Town of Addison. Four vehicles in the westbound lane were stopped when a 22-year-old West Bend woman driving an SUV failed to stop and hit a sedan at the back of the line. The sedan hit the next vehicle then skidded across the lanes of traffic into the eastbound ditch. The next vehicle in line then hit the rear end of one additional vehicle that was stopped in traffic. The woman who died at the scene was a passenger in the sedan. The 33-year-old West Bend woman driving the sedan was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee with non-life threatening injuries. The SUV driver was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Drivers of the two other vehicles declined treatment. Inattentive driving was a factor in the accident that happened at 8:15 a.m. It was the fifth traffic fatality of the year in Washington County.
