Waupun Baseball Coach And Teacher Will Be Missed

The Waupun Community says farewell to High School baseball coach Kevin DeBoer today. He died Tuesday after a life-long battle with cancer and related diseases. Waupun Schools Superintendent Tonya Gubin says baseball helped him through the tough times even towards the end. She says he was in the dugout at games and worked with the Legion Team as they went on to the nationals in Kansas. DeBoer was a native of Waupun who led the baseball team to a state championship and regional championships, and the legion team to a state championship. He was also a teacher and Gubin says his loss will be felt by the community. The funeral service is at First Reformed Church in Waupun at 11 a.m. today. A benefit fund has been set up in his name at The National Bank in Waupun.
