Waupun Fire Damages Home

The Waupun Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 117 Bly Street early Thursday morning. A neighbor noticed the fire and placed the call to 9-1-1 at approx 12:36 a.m.  Fire Department personnel arrived and saw flames coming from a basement window of the 2-story home. Crews knocked the fire down within 30 minutes and remained on the scene for almost 2 hours. The home sustained significant smoke and fire damage to the basement as well as smoke damage to the other floors of the house. Damage estimates at this time are unknown. Two dogs were in home at the time of the fire and were transported to a veterinary clinic for observation overnight. No firefighters were hurt during operations. Agencies assisting at the scene included fire departments from Alto and Brandon/Fairwater, the Waupun Police Department, Lifestar Ambulance, Waupun Utilities, and the State Fire Marshall’s Office. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is not considered suspicious at this time.
