Waupun Fire Department Retirees Recognized For Long Service

The Waupun Fire Department recently recognized five former firefighters for their service to the community. Between them Ron VandeZande (46 years of service), Dave Redman (37), Gary Chase (35), Rich Smith (34), and Roger Oosterhouse (25 years) put in 177 years of service to the citizens of Waupun. Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says that level of commitment is becoming rare these days. He says that’s a huge commitment not only on an individual level, but on a family level. DeMaa says throughout their careers, the five men have demonstrated dedication and leadership that have helped shape the department for the future. The retiree’s families were also recognized during last Sunday’s ceremony at the American Legion Post in Waupun.
