Waupun House Fire

No one was injured in a house fire in Waupun Wednesday afternoon. Waupun Fire Chief B. J. Demaa says the fire was underway when he arrived at 328 Fond du Lac Street shortly after noon. He says smoke and flames were visible on the back side of the house and smoke was also pushing out the front door of the home as well.  A woman living in the home told them there were pets still inside, which Demaa says they were able to locate. He says they found a dog, a cat, and a litter of kittens. He says they safely removed them from the home. The Red Cross assisted the family. Demaa says because of the damage at this point the house is uninhabitable. He says the damage was extensive and is probably in the range of $75,000 to $85,000. He says they will be working with a police detective to determine where the fire started and what caused it, but it does not appear to be intentional.
