Waupun Memorial Hospital Showcasing New Private Patient Rooms

Officials at Waupun Memorial Hospital will showcase their new $23 million addition at the end of the week. The two-story 52,775-square-foot addition features 21 inpatient rooms, which include 14 medical/surgical rooms, three intensive care unit rooms, and four labor/delivery/recovery rooms. DeAnn Thurmer is the Chief Operating Officer for the hospital. She says the rooms for families having babies are much larger than the rooms they used when the hospital opened in 1952. There also is some wonderful technology using the flat-screen TVs in the patient rooms. Nurses and doctors will be identified on the TV as they walk into the room. Staff will also have better communication systems. The open house on Sunday is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those attending are asked to enter through the main hospital entrance, and greeters will direct them to the new section.
