Waupun Police Chief Would Like To See Successor Come From Within The Department

Waupun Police Chief Dale Heeringa says he hopes the City’s Police and Fire Commission will look within the department for his successor. Heeringa announced last week that he will be retiring after 41 ½ years with the department. He feels they have people in their department that are capable of leading it. He says there are officers that are interested in the position. He says it won’t be long before the PFC begins looking for his successor. Heeringa started out as a night shift patrolman and rose up through the ranks spending the last 13 years as chief. His retirement becomes effective on June 8th.
