West Nile Virus Advice

We learned this past week that a person in Fond du Lac County tested positive for the West Nile virus. That person wasn’t hospitalized, but that news signaled others could be carrying the disease without showing the symptoms. County Health Department officials are asking residents to take precautions like limiting their time outdoors at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are more likely to be around, and use repellent on bare skin and clothing. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller also recommends dumping anything in your yard that might hold standing water, which is where mosquitoes like to breed.
