Wind Surfer Dies On Lake Winnebago
A 71-year-old Sheboygan Falls man died in Lake Winnebago Saturday afternoon after he was reported missing near Roosevelt Park. Fond du Lac County Sheriff's officials say the 911 call center received a report about a missing wind surfer at 4:31 p.m. His wind surfing rig washed up on shore and personnel from the windsurfing company were going out onto the lake to look for him. The Sheriff's Office had two boats and a Coast Guard boat were sent out to look for him. A dive team and Coast Guard helicopter were also used. At 6:10 p.m. personnel from the windsurfing company found the man's body in water about 300 yards off shore. The body was brought back to shore and Fond du Lac Paramedics determined he was dead. He was not wearing a personal floatation device. The Sheriff's Office and Department of Natural Resources investigated. The man's name hasn't been released yet.
