Winnebago Sheriffs Investigators Bust Million Dollar Pot Operation

A tip from an informant led to a big marijuana bust in Winnebago County. Captain David Mack of the sheriff’s department says they found 475 plants and 43 pounds of cut marijuana in a home in the town of Vinland. He says it’s the largest operation he’s seen in his 20 years on the job. Mack says the drugs are worth between $500,000 and $1.5 million. He figures the plants and marijuana are worth closer to the $1.5 million. Mack says the tip came from the Oneida County drug task force. He says they did not expect to find such a big operation when they went to the home with a search warrant. Mack says Gerald Walters was not even on their radar as someone they were looking at for distribution of narcotics. They arrested the 64-year-old Walters and 58-year-old Linda Hennessy.
