Winter Storm Warning For Saturday Night!!!

...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FOR SATURDAY NIGHT AND
SUNDAY...

.FOR THE REST OF THIS AFTERNOON...LIGHT FREEZING RAIN AND DRIZZLE
WILL COME TO AN END BY EVENING AS LOW PRESSURE PASSES BY TO THE
SOUTHEAST AND MOVES AWAY FROM THE REGION. THEN A QUIET PERIOD RETURNS FOR THE REMAINDER OF TONIGHT THROUGH
MOST OF SATURDAY. ATTENTION WILL QUICKLY TURN TOWARD THE WINTER STORM EXPECTED TO
HIT THE AREA SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY. A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL
STRENGTHEN RAPIDLY AS IT SHIFTS NORTHEAST FROM ARKANSAS TO THE
CENTRAL GREAT LAKES SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY. THE LOW WILL BRING
AMPLE AMOUNTS OF MOISTURE INTO THE AREA AND LEAD TO THE POTENTIAL
FOR HEAVY SNOW OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN WISCONSIN. WIDESPREAD
AMOUNTS OF 6 TO 9 INCHES ARE EXPECTED WITH SOME AREAS POSSIBLY
GETTING MORE.
WE WILL BE KEEPING AN EYE ON THE FAR SOUTHEAST AS THERE IS SOME
POTENTIAL FOR WARMER AIR TO BRIEFLY SNEAK INTO THAT
AREA...BRINGING A WINTRY MIX FOR A TIME SATURDAY EVENING. THIS IS
BY NO MEANS A CERTAINTY...BUT WOULD RESULT IN SOME LOWER SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS THERE.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM SATURDAY TO 6 PM CST
SUNDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MILWAUKEE/SULLIVAN HAS ISSUED A
WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6
PM SATURDAY TO 6 PM CST SUNDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO
LONGER IN EFFECT.

* SNOW...SATURDAY EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY WITH A PERIOD OF HEAVY
SNOW LIKELY LATE SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING. 6 TO 9
INCHES ARE POSSIBLE WITH HIGHEST AMOUNTS FROM DARLINGTON TO
JANESVILLE...NORTHEAST TO SHEBOYGAN AND PORT WASHINGTON. THE
MADISON METRO AREA IS IN THE HEART OF THIS HEAVY SNOW AXIS. THE
EXPECTED AXIS OF HEAVIEST SNOW COULD CHANGE SO KEEP UP WITH THE
LATEST FORECASTS.

* TIMING...SNOW ARRIVES AROUND 9 PM SATURDAY EVENING AND CONTINUES
THROUGH THE NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING. THE SNOW WILL BE HEAVY AT
TIMES. EXPECT THE SNOW TO TAPER OFF BY EARLY AFTERNOON ON SUNDAY.
