Woman Shoots Self In Leg At Fondy Aqua Park

A woman who accidentally shot herself in the leg Monday afternoon in Fond du Lac may be facing charges following the incident. 

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the Fondy Sports Aqua Park at about 12:23 Monday afternoon, for reports of a 32-year old woman who had shot herself in the leg. The woman was transported by City of Fond du Lac Ambulance to St. Agnes Hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg, and she was treated and released. 

An update provided by the Sheriff’s Office says that the 32-year-old woman from Milwaukee was not in lawful possession of the gun at the time of the incident. Investigators found the gun was in her purse when it became wet while at the Aqua Park. The woman went to dry off the gun at her car when it accidentally discharged. She faces possible charges of Recklessly Endangering Safety and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. 

Deputies were assisted on the scene by Town of Fond du Lac First Responders, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and City of Fond du Lac Ambulance. 

The incident is still under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
